Cameroon joins African Union of Telecommunication

The National Assembly passed a bill on 1 April 2003 to authorize the President of the Republic to ratify the African convention on the integration of telecommunication systems. This is happening after Cameroon's reception of the fibre optic cable- this bill may go a long way to improve the quality and the cost of telecommunication among African countries.
Up to now, a minute of communication between Cameroon and its next door neighbour Nigeria is more expensive than a communication with Europe or America. The cost is so high because international calls from Cameroon have to pass through France.
